CannabisNewsBreaks – Red White & Bloom Brands Inc. (CSE: RWB) (OTCQX: RWBYF) Builds Out New Florida Facility for Edibles Production

Red White & Bloom (CSE: RWB) (OTCQX: RWBYF), a leading provider of cannabis brands in the United States, announced that it has built-out a new production facility. The facility meets GMP specifications and enables the company to capitalize on the expanding cannabis derivative market in Florida. The new 4,800-square-foot structure is located at RWBYF’s Sanderson, Florida, location and was built to meet the fast-growing demand for edibles. According to a BDSA report, the state’s medical cannabis market has been projected to reach $1.5 billion in sales in 2021, which would be a 53% increase compared to 2020 numbers; the same report noted that, with both recreational and medical cannabis expected to be legal in Florida by 2023, the market is forecast to total $2.6 billion by 2026. Red White & Bloom is working on the development of a branded capsule and rosin line along with an exclusive line of chocolates that the company anticipates will be available later this year. “We are very pleased to have completed this state of the art production facility ahead of time and begin production this month,” said Red White & Bloom general manager Jim Frazier in the press release. “We will begin with premium specialized confectionary offerings as finished retail-ready packages where medical patients will be able to select from a variety of different products. We are confident this new facility, coupled with our expert staff of edible specialists, can produce a market-leading offering.”

420 with CNW — Trials on Marijuana-Based Treatments for Gynecological Conditions to Begin in 2022

Clinical trials to examine the effectiveness and safety of marijuana-based treatments for various gynecological conditions are expected to begin early next year. The trials will evaluate marijuana-based pharmacology products developed by Gynica, a female technology startup company based in Jerusalem.

The startup believes that the plant’s active ingredients can help ease painful gynecological conditions, including endometriosis and painful menstruation, which is also known as dysmenorrhea. Traditional treatments, such as hormone therapy, over-the-counter painkillers and surgical intervention. can be inadequate and pose their own health risks, as in the case of endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a disorder which causes tissues that normally line the uterus, known as the endometrium, to grow outside the uterus. These tissues usually become trapped inside the body and thicken, causing a build-up of adhesions and scar tissue. This results in excessive bleeding, painful intercourse and painful menstruation. In some cases, endometriosis can cause infertility.

Endometriosis has no definitive cause and no cure. It takes between 6 to 10 years for the disorder to be properly diagnosed, despite the fact that it affects every 1 in 10 women of reproductive age globally. This equates to about 180 million girls and women around the globe.

Gynica hopes to meet these unaddressed needs in women’s health by developing marijuana-based solutions for these gynecological conditions.

The CEO and co-founder of the start-up, Yotam Hod, stated that there exists so many gaps in how conditions that affect women are handled by both the scientific community and the medical community. The company has developed proprietary vaginal suppositories, which Hod says have been designed to decrease pain as well as inflammation, which is a key factor in both dysmenorrhea and endometriosis.

Dysmenorrhea is also common, with physicians noting that the associated pain varies between mild and severe. It is estimated that between 40% and 95% of women of reproductive age suffer from dysmenorrhea. Physicians note that for some individuals, dysmenorrhea and endometriosis are related.

Gynica believes that endometriosis and dysmenorrhea may be associated with a deficiency in the endocannabinoid system. The company references published research, which states that, after the brain, the female reproductive system is the region with the most endocannabinoid receptors. The endocannabinoid system is comprised of natural marijuana-like molecules produced by the human body, which regulate processes such as reproductive function, sleep, mood, appetite and pain.

Hod notes that their solutions show promise for treating these conditions and maintains that cannabinoid-based treatments may provide an improved solution for women who suffer from these conditions.

If successful, these trials could lend further credence to the profile of marijuana as a medicinal plant. The entire cannabis sector, including companies such as Red White & Bloom Brands Inc. (CSE: RWB) (OTCQX: RWBYF), could benefit from the positive news such outcomes would trigger.

CannabisNewsBreaks – Red White & Bloom Brands Inc. (CSE: RWB) (OTCQX: RWBYF) Releases Q2 2021 Financials, Business Highlights

Red White & Bloom (CSE: RWB) (OTCQX: RWBYF), a multistate cannabis operator and house of premium brands, has reported its second quarter 2021 financials. The report includes the news that adjusted sales for the first six months reached $58.5 million, with revenue for Q2 2021 topping $13.3 million compared to $11.8 million in Q1 2021, an increase of 13%. The company’s gross margin for the period was $9.5 million. The company also noted that it was able to reduce its short-term obligations through repayment of approximately $18 million of debt and restructuring of more than $20 million into long-term debt. Corporate highlights for RWBYF include closing on the acquisition of Acreage Florida, a property that is licensed to operate medical marijuana dispensaries, which includes processing facility and a cultivation facility, as well as obtaining 30 double-wide, fully enclosed cultivation pods that will provide approximately 19,000 square feet of turnkey cultivation space. The company also has completed the more comprehensive portion of Michigan’s two-step application process for medical marijuana licensing through a wholly owned operating subsidiary. “We continue to make great strides with our branded products and see momentum in Q2, which has teed up Q3 nicely, and will translate into a strong second half,” said Red White & Bloom chair and CEO Brad Rogers in the press release. “In Florida, after closing the acquisition at the end of April, we have made strategic investments that are allowing us to quickly ramp up capacity as well as complete construction for new store openings before the end of 2021. Under IFRS, revenue for the second quarter was up 13% over the first quarter of this year. Even with the growth in recognized revenue, it’s important to note that in the second quarter, there were a number of significant raw material inventory purchases made to support growth for Q3 and in anticipation of new branded product line launches; we want to point out that, under IFRS, these purchases reduced recognized revenue for PV in Michigan. We continue to present the Adjusted Sales to assist investors in understanding the growth and demand for our brands in the US cannabis market.”

420 with CNW — Medical Marijuana Portal for Veterinarians in the US Launched

The Veterinary Cannabis Society has unveiled an educational portal and website for marijuana product companies, pet owners and veterinarians. Marijuana in pet care has grown in popularity, which has brought along with it misinformation and confusion, with some products not only causing individuals to waste their money but also negatively affecting pets. In some cases, products may lead to death.

Dogs, in particular, are sensitive to marijuana products that contain THC, which is the main psychoactive compound in marijuana. Cannabis toxicity is a severe medical issue that has been increasing since recreational and medical use of cannabis became legal in various states across the United States.

A study that was recently published in the “Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care” found that between 2005 and 2010, the number of dogs that were treated for cannabis poisoning had more than tripled in Colorado after medical cannabis was legalized in the state. Another study conducted by LeafReport has discovered that almost 60% of the pet products have inaccurate claims on their labels. This is why quality control is crucial for pet products.

Veterinarians are also not permitted to discuss the use of marijuana for pets with pet owners in some states. Dr. Trina Hazzah, who is the co-founder and president of the Veterinary Cannabis Society, stated that veterinarians found it difficult to discuss marijuana with pet owners because the vets lacked the knowledge or wanted to avoid possible legal implications. Hazzah noted that it wasn’t right for veterinarians to risk their livelihood or license because they were trying to do what was right for their patients. According to the Veterinary Cannabis Society, almost 70% of veterinarians will not advise pet parents on marijuana because they lack the knowledge.

The veterinary society, which was established in 2020, was founded in response to the gap in knowledge concerning the appropriate and safe use of medical marijuana for treating animals. In addition to offering general information, the society also provides its members with educational resources, including presentations, videos, podcasts, a research library and critically reviewed articles.

Hazzah observed that she’d developed an interest in marijuana medicine when looking for integrative effective approaches for veterinary cancer patients. She noted that the cancer society’s goal was for an empowered and educated international veterinary medical marijuana community. The Veterinary Cancer Society is currently working with interested organizations and parties in several states in the country to promote reasonable legislation for the use of medical marijuana in the veterinary profession. This is in addition to working to create a system of product quality standards.

Such portals are likely to spread awareness about the potential benefits and risks of marijuana compounds for different market segments, and with that awareness, demand could grow for the products made by companies such as Red White & Bloom Brands Inc. (CSE: RWB) (OTCQX: RWBYF).

420 with CNW — As Cannabis Legalization Spreads, Companies Are Reconsidering Drug Policies

America’s increasingly liberal attitude regarding cannabis consumption has started to impact workplace policies. For decades, both federal and state law outlawed cannabis, which was in turn mirrored in workplace policies across the country. Most employers had a zero-tolerance policy on cannabis, with some even requiring regular drug tests and firing employees who failed. But with cannabis reform sweeping the nation, companies are starting to reconsider their drug policies.

This became increasingly clear when Amazon, the largest player in the e-commerce market with 1.3 million employees around the world, announced that it would cease testing job seekers for marijuana. A lot of businesses had been revising their drug policies in the wake of increased cannabis legalization, but Amazon’s announcement showed that the cannabis reform movement was gaining major traction. However, president and CEO of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce Todd Maisch says that while plenty of companies are relaxing their attitudes toward cannabis, there’s still plenty that aren’t.

No business wants their employees to be impaired while on the job, he says, but for a lot of them, the days of random drug tests are drawing to a close. It ultimately depends on the type of business, with some having a lot of flexibility regarding their drug policies and others being unwilling and in most cases unable to relax their drug policies. For instance, businesses in construction whose employees have to use heavy machinery have to maintain a drug-free policy to keep their staff safe while on-site as well as to limit their culpability in case an impaired employee is involved in a workplace accident.

Additionally, entities and individuals that have contracts with the federal government are required to stay clear of all drugs, even the ones that are state legal, because drug use is outlawed by federal law. As such, Maisch says, the evolution of workplace policies regarding cannabis consumption has had two approaches, with some companies adapting to the changing times and others digging their heels in and adhering to federal policy on cannabis. Fortunately for cannabis-reform proponents, current events have influenced how employers treat cannabis.

The pandemic had a historic effect on the job market, forcing a lot of industries to slow down in the wake of lockdown orders and promoting a work-from-home culture. More than a year after the coronavirus struck and as the world started opening up, people began questioning the job market and demanding fair pay and benefits. This has led to a labor shortage of the likes we have never seen before, and employers are scrambling to hire employees who are willing to join their ranks.

Thus, employers across the country are ready to loosen their workplace policies, especially regarding off-duty cannabis use, Maisch says. This easing of restrictions is likely to open up even more the clientele for cannabis products made by companies such as Red White & Bloom Brands Inc. (CSE: RWB) (OTCQX: RWBYF) since more people will be willing to consider cannabis usage during their off-duty hours.

CannabisNewsBreaks – Red White & Bloom Brands Inc. (CSE: RWB) (OTCQX: RWBYF) Announces Progress That Tells of the Dawn of Exciting Times

Red White & Bloom Brands’ (CSE: RWB) (OTCQX: RWBYF) CEO Brad Rogers, in a statement contained in the company’s investor deck presentation, observed that multiple deals, “judiciously purchased and diligently structured,” were coming together to create “the most exciting times in the history of the company.” Rogers further noted that the company was focused on building its key assets and growing the bottom line for its shareholders. “Red White & Bloom recently made two announcements that show its progress thus far and perhaps tell of the dawn of the exciting times. On July 22, the company announced its Q4 2020 and full-year results,” reads a recent article that indicates RWB reported a 158% quarter-over-quarter increase in revenue from CA$6.1 million in Q3 2020 to CA$15.7 million in Q4 2020. In addition, the article indicates that RWB’s revenue for the year ended Dec. 31, 2020, grew to CA$23.3 million from nil in 2019, while its gross profit for the FY 2020 was CA$13.35 million, or 57% of the FY revenue, compared to nil in 2019. The piece quotes Rogers on the company’s continued momentum, who said, “This was another great quarter for the company as we continued to see strong traction for our brands. We are building on that momentum and working towards finalizing our revised asset purchase of our Michigan investee to bring their revenue, as well as adjusted sales into IFRS revenue format before the end of this current quarter.”

420 with CNW — Illinois Sets New Recreational Cannabis Monthly Sales Record

The Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in the state of Illinois has revealed that legal cannabis sales in July 2021 broke the state’s record, with more than $125 million in gross recreational receipts. This figure is about $10 million higher than the state’s prior sales record, which was set in May of this year.

This shows that despite the growing economic uncertainty and the ongoing pandemic, Illinois’ popular marijuana program is continuing to prosper.

Data released shows that last month, consumers bought more than 2.8 million individual marijuana items, which is another monthly record. About 69% of the total recreational receipts come from in-state residents, which equates to roughly $85 million. Out-of-state residents made up the remainder of this amount.

Some attribute the boost in sales to out-of-state visitors who came in high numbers for the Lollapalooza music fest, which took place in Chicago. Retailers in the West Loop and River North reported that during that period their sales increased by over 50%. However, sales to residents of the state also saw a substantial increase, growing by more than $6 million, in comparison with June’s sales figures.

It should be noted that these figures aren’t inclusive of medical marijuana sales as they are tracked separately by another agency.

If sales in the state continue increasing, Illinois may rake in more than $1 billion in adult-use cannabis sales by the end of the year, which would mean a substantial increase in revenue for the state. Last year, the state of Illinois reported $205 million in cannabis tax revenue and sold roughly $670 million in marijuana. A report released in May by the state’s Department of Revenue also shows that Illinois brought in more tax revenue from cannabis than alcohol for the first time in 2021’s first quarter.

Cannabis tax revenue in the state is being put to good use, with state officials having recently placed more than $3 million in marijuana-generated funds into street intervention programs in efforts to decrease violence. Additionally, in January, the state announced that it would be distributing $31 million in grants financed by cannabis tax dollars to communities that were disproportionately affected by the war on drugs. These funds are part of the state’s R3 program (Restore, Reinvest and Renew), which was set up under the state’s adult-use marijuana legalization law.

Legislators in the state also recently advanced a bill to the governor’s desk that would create more marijuana business licensing opportunities, which would allow individuals from disproportionately affected communities to take part in the cannabis industry.

The impressive growth seen in the recreational cannabis industry in Illinois is a strong indicator that companies entering the market, including Red White & Bloom Brands Inc. (CSE: RWB) (OTCQX: RWBYF), appear to be in an ideal position to thrive in the state.

Red White & Bloom’s CEO and Executive Chair Brad Rogers joined the latest episode to discuss the company’s business model and brand strategy spanning multiple rapidly developing U.S. cannabis markets. “Red White & Bloom (‘RWB’) started off as a beachhead in Michigan; it was a state that was not heavily penetrated whatsoever because of the fact that there were no public companies that were able to own a license in that state at the time,” Rogers said. “We came up with a very unique structure to be able to actually take advantage of the regs and enter that state as an investor into a privately owned company, which we have since gained control over. That was our entry into the market, but what was unique about RWB and RWB brands is the fact that we took a brand strategy to this.”

420 with CNW — What the Future Holds for Hemp-Sourced Cannabinoids

In the early 1970s, the federal government outlawed all cannabis cultivation, and failing to distinguish between hemp and its psychoactive cousin cannabis, declared it illegal to cultivate both cannabis and hemp. These policies held for decades, and while the illicit market continued supplying cannabis, hemp nearly faded into obscurity. In 2014, Congress passed a farm bill that allowed state agriculture departments and universities to grow hemp in pilot programs as long as their home states permitted it.

Four years later, the 2018 farm gill removed hemp from the list of controlled substances, allowing the cultivation, processing and sale of hemp and hemp derivatives. Just a few years later, America’s young hemp industry has blossomed, partly driven by the explosive demand for cannabinoids, CBD in particular.

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds produced by plants of the cannabis sativa species, which includes hemp and cannabis. Hemp has less than 0.3% THC, the main psychoactive compound in cannabis, hence hemp products will not intoxicate you.

Said to be filled with potent medicinal properties, CBD has made hemp extremely valuable. The CBD pace has advanced rather quickly, and some have called the industry a Wild West where hype has far outpaced science. Consequently, the FDA has warned several companies against marketing CBD products as over the counter medicines and raised concerns about adding CBD to ingestible products such as foods, beverages, and dietary supplements. Still, nearly every states has passed some form of hemp legislation and allows the use of hemp and its derivatives in a variety of consumer products, including ingestible products and pet products.

Other minor cannabinoids, including cannabigerol (“CBG”), delta-8 THC and cannabinol (“CBN”), have been subject to increasing attention. However, these minor cannabinoids are relatively unknown and make up a very small segment of the hemp industry. They still have plenty of regulatory hurdles to clear, let alone gaining the high level of market visibility that CBD has achieved within the past five years. Since these minor cannabinoids have barely been subject to scientific research and clinical studies, policymakers still do not understand them or what they can do.

In fact, we do not know a lot about most of the approximately 100 cannabinoids hemp produces. But based on how cannabidiol fared, we can assume that these cannabinoids will also go through a similar process. Increasing popularity will attract more sellers to the market, plenty of them unscrupulous. We may even see companies advertising these cannabinoids as miracle cures for certain diseases, much like some companies have done with CBD. However, the FDA has been quick to shut down such claims and offer guidance on CBD, and we can assume the federal agency will do the same with the larger hemp-sourced cannabinoid sector.

Sellers are constantly coming up with new CBD products, forcing federal and regulators to constantly redefine what is legal and what isn’t. Some states may allow cannabinoid-infused transdermal patches and CBD flower while others may not. Meanwhile, the FDA will continue to provide guidance on cannabinoids and how they can and cannot be used in the absence of a federal comprehensive regulatory structure.

At the moment, cannabis companies that are interested in different cannabinoids, such as Red White & Bloom Brands Inc. (CSE: RWB) (OTCQX: RWBYF), are working within the existing regulatory framework to manufacture premium products aimed at addressing the needs of their customers.
