420 with CNW — Four Reasons Why Cannabis Is Good for Women’s Health

In recent times, marijuana has become popular, and researchers have been able to prove many of the benefits it provides for both mental and physical disorders. Both women and men face various health issues; however, some issues impact women more significantly. For example, cervical cancers, depression, heart attacks, menopause and melanoma exhibit more frequently in female patients.

Through the use of edibles, women are slowly discovering the health benefits of marijuana. Below are a few reasons why women should use marijuana for their welfare.

May help in mental ailments

Both women and men are affected by mental illnesses. However, these illnesses appear to be more serious in women. The most common mental health disorders in women are schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression; some of their significant causes include abuse, family responsibility and career.

Marijuana helps decrease depression and anxiety in women through the use of its antidepressant properties. Consuming marijuana in small doses aids in the release of serotonin, thus alleviating anxiety and stress.

May be used to relieve menstrual cramps

Menstrual cramps, or dysmenorrhea, usually occur during menstruation and can be painful. This pain occurs mostly in the lower abdomen and may be minimal for some women and severe for others, even reaching the point where a woman’s everyday activities are impacted.

Menstrual cramps are usually more severe at the beginning of the period and may cause back pain as well as dizziness, bloating, headaches and nausea. Marijuana may help reduce pain during menstruation. A 2015 study demonstrated that marijuana can be used to decrease menstrual pains. In the study, 192 women were surveyed, with 85% revealing that they used marijuana because it effectively decreased their menstrual pain. Most consumed cannabis by smoking or ingested it in the form of edibles.

Can be used as an aphrodisiac

At times, women may experience a low sex drive, which can be attributed to poor eating habits and not exercising regularly. While dietary changes may enhance sexual energy, consuming aphrodisiacs such as marijuana, which is a natural aphrodisiac, may increase a woman’s libido. Additionally, some women have reported less penetration pain during intercourse.

In another study, researchers found that women who consumed marijuana had two times higher sex drives and achieved more satisfactory orgasms as compared to women with irregular cannabis usage.

May alleviate skin issues

Environmental and lifestyle factors affect women’s skin in different ways. Pigmentation and acne are the most common issues. Using hemp seed oil may help maintain healthy skin. Cannabis’s anti-inflammatory properties may also help relieve eczema and acne. CBD, which is derived from the cannabis plant, may also help slow down the aging process while protecting the skin from the sun’s harmful rays and pollution.

Where marijuana use is concerned, the adage less is more appears to be true. Lower doses of authentic marijuana products appear to provide the benefits of cannabis. As always, if you’re taking medication or have any medical condition, consult your health practitioner before consuming marijuana in any form.

420 with CNW — Research Finds Off-Duty Cannabis Use Has No Effect on Productivity

The cannabis industry is without a doubt one of the fastest-growing industries. After decades of prohibition, attitudes toward the controversial plant are changing, with 35 states legalizing medical cannabis and 15 states allowing recreational use. Still, many employers worry that cannabis use, even while off the clock, can reduce employee performance, ultimately impacting the bottom line.

According to recent research, however, there is no correlation between off-duty cannabis use and reduced productivity at work. First published in May 2020, the study sought to determine how using cannabis at different times of the day affected people’s ability to meet their job requirements as well as their behavior and attitude towards their colleagues and work respectively. Despite cannabis’ infamy, the plant is one of the most-used drugs in the country, with an estimated 20% of Americans thought to have used it in their lifetime.

Cannabis is known to reduce anxiety and induce relaxation without a morning hangover, making it perfect for unwinding after a day at work. Most cannabis drug tests check for metabolites, which are chemicals that remain in the body long after the drug breaks down. This means that an employee can fail a drug test and be penalized for cannabis they consumed over the weekend or even a week ago.

In the study, 281 employees who used cannabis and 281 direct supervisors participated. The employees were asked to report how frequently they used cannabis over the past 12 months. Specifically, they were asked questions regarding a number of parameters, such as in a timeframe of two hours before they started their work shifts, how often they used marijuana in the past 12 months during their workday, and how often they used the substance over the past year in a duration not exceeding two hours of leaving work. The supervisors were asked to observe as well as evaluate their subordinates’ performance.

The researchers found that using cannabis before and even during work negatively impacted employee productivity, as expected. Cannabis use reduced \concentration and ability to solve problems and effectively carry out tasks as well as an employee’s tendencies to assist other employees and function cohesively in a team. Cannabis use before and during work also increased employees’ propensity for counterproductive behavior, such as excessive daydreaming.

However, using cannabis after work did not impact employees’ ability to complete their assignments the next day nor their ability to relate cordially and professionally with their workmates. Unlike alcohol, employees who used cannabis after work did not exhibit reduced productivity nor an increased propensity for unproductive behavior the next day.

Hemptown Organics, an industry leading cannabinoid company delivering a diverse product offering, was recently featured in “America’s Next Investment” — a national TV series focused to help companies raise capital through equity crowdfunding. The episode focused on Hemptown’s regulation D offering, highlighting a promising investment opportunity in the hemp industry, with the U.S. market expected to hit $16 billion by 2025. “In the 90s, we didn’t have hemp, we didn’t have CBD,” Hemptown Founder Rod Wolterman said regarding the company’s entry into the sector. “We’ve figured out that we have endocannabinoid systems. We produce CB1 and CB2 in our bodies. Knowing cannabis and knowing the health benefits and the ability to sell this without any of the restrictions cannabis has,” Wolterman further stated of the opportunity in entering the space. 420 with CNW — The Benefits, Drawbacks and Myths of Marijuana Consumption Methods

If you’re a regular marijuana user or are planning to join the club, then you know that the “how” you ingest the herb is a primary concern for many. It’s well known that the mental and physical benefits you may obtain from the herb largely depend on how the substance gets into your system.

To help you with this, let’s discuss the most common ways to ingest cannabis as well as the pros and cons of each method; we’ll also debunk some misconceptions and myths while we’re at it.

First, you should know that there are three main ways to consume marijuana: inhaled, topical or oral. The most popular of the three is inhalation. Despite the health concerns related to smoking, this is the most popular consumption method because of ease of access and almost-instant effects.

When a person inhales marijuana smoke, the compound enters their lungs before their bloodstream. You can smoke marijuana through these methods;

Blunts and Joints

This is the most basic way to smoke marijuana as it requires little equipment. Joints and blunts are portable, easy to use and affordable in comparison to other ways. However, those who have sensitive lungs may not prefer this method. Additionally, this equipment does require some skill on the part of the user.

Pipes

These are a standard tool for smoking weed and are often made from glass or wood. They are easy to carry, light and small. While they’re available in most smoke shops and lead to little or no THC loss, they break easily and warm up quickly.

Bongs

These are glass devices that filter and cool down the smoke, rendering it less harsh on your lungs. They’re also better for people with a high tolerance, as the hits are pretty strong. However, most bongs aren’t portable and require the user to change the water as often as possible to prevent the water from smelling.

Moving on to some myths.

  • While many people think that using a bong is better for your health because it filters out harmful elements from the weed, that may not be completely true. The water does trap some particulates and tar but not any potential carcinogens released by the cannabis.
  • Between joints and blunts, which is better? Turns out joints are. Blunts are simply hollowed-out cigars. If you’d like to make the move from both options though, you can try hemp wraps. Not only are they nonaddictive and natural, but they’re also 100% nicotine free.

All in all though, you should ingest cannabis in moderation. While these methods may be popular because of their immediate effects, none of them are free of harmful effects.

One company you should watch is Pure Extract Technologies Inc. (CSE: PULL). This company focuses on extracting plant compounds, and while Pure Extracts was initially attending to the marijuana industry alone, it has now spread its wings to psychedelics and functional mushrooms.

Gage Cannabis Co.’s Lansing Location Now Offering Recreational Marijuana

  • Experts expect the recreational marijuana market in Michigan to rival the numbers currently seen in some of country’s top cannabis markets within the next few years
  • Gage Cannabis Co. is innovating and curating the highest-quality cannabis experiences possible for cannabis consumers in the state of Michigan
  • New Lansing location offers a wide range of products, all available for purchase through curbside delivery or walk-up pick up

Gage Cannabis is strengthening its position as Michigan’s leading high-quality craft cannabis brand and operator by offering recreational marijuana at its Lansing, Michigan location (https://cnw.fm/QxA9R). The company is committed to building the fastest-growing cannabis brand in the state, which is currently home to one of the fastest-growing legal cannabis markets in the country.

“We are thrilled to start offering recreational sales to more customers within the Lansing area,” said Gage Cannabis Co. president Fabian Monaco. “The demand for adult-use products has exploded in the past year, and we are ready and eager to meet those needs. We have received an overwhelmingly positive response from medical patients about our products and retail experience, and we look forward to providing the same level of service and product selection to our new community of recreational customers.”
Gage’s Lansing location offers a wide range of products, all available for purchase through curbside delivery or walk-up pick up. The store’s product offerings include flower, pre-rolls, edibles, concentrates, topicals, tinctures, CBD products, accessories and apparel. The company also features products by Redemption Cannabis, which was founded by Ryan Basore, one of Gage’s first social-equity program recipients.

Through this program, Gage offers grants of up to $50,000 to help those who were harmed by the war on drugs. In 2019, Basore, who spent two and a half years in prison after his cannabis business was raided by authorities, received the grant from Gage Cannabis and used the funds to join with other drug-war victims and create the Redemption brand (https://cnw.fm/9btnl).

In addition to its Lansing location, Gage has four additional locations up and running — Adrian (which also offers recreational marijuana), Detroit, Ferndale and Traverse City — with eight more locations coming soon. The company has plans to have more than 20 operating locations by the end of 2021.

Many experts expect the recreational marijuana market in Michigan to rival the numbers currently seen in some of the country’s top cannabis markets within the next few years (https://cnw.fm/LRCyn). An estimated 3% of Michigan’s residents hold medical marijuana cards, a much higher percentage than most other medical markets. A leading research organization predicts that the state’s recreational market could triple in size between 2020 and 2023.

Gage Cannabis Co. is innovating and curating the highest-quality cannabis experiences possible for cannabis consumers in the state of Michigan and bringing internationally renowned brands to market. Through years of progressive industry experience, the firm’s founding partners have successfully built and grown operations with federal and state licenses, including cultivation, processing and retail locations. Gage’s portfolio includes city and state approvals for 19 Class C cultivation licenses, three processing licenses and 13 provisioning centers (dispensaries). The company is currently planning a Canadian listing for early 2021 (https://cnw.fm/SZtCk) and has launched a Regulation A, Tier 2, equity financing.

420 with CNW — Voters Approve Marijuana Legalization in Five States

Five states adopted measures to legalize marijuana during last week’s elections. These states —South Dakota, New Jersey, Montana, Mississippi and Arizona — had measures for medical or recreational marijuana use, or both, on their ballots.

According to New Frontier Data, a marijuana market firm, legalization of marijuana in the additional states will grow the cannabis industry by an estimated $9 billion. Here’s a breakdown of the measures in the different states that were approved on Tuesday’s ballots.

South Dakota

South Dakota voters approved Measure 26, which requires the state to create a medical cannabis program for possession, use and home cultivation for individuals with qualifying medical conditions.

Voters also approved Constitutional Amendment A, which revises the state’s constitution to allow the possession, purchase and distribution of up to an ounce of cannabis for individuals who are 21 years and above.

The state legislature is required to draft and pass new legislations to set up a state medical cannabis program before April 1, 2021.

New Jersey

Voters from New Jersey legalized the recreational use of marijuana by voting yes on the Question 1 measure. This means that the state’s constitution will be revised to permit individuals 21 years and older to possess and use cannabis, and also permit cannabis to be grown, processed and sold in the state.

Montana

Under the Constitutional Initiative 118 and the I-190 measures, the adult recreational use of marijuana was legalized. These initiatives will cap the drug’s possession at less than 8 grams (or 1 ounce) of concentrated cannabis and legalize the use and purchase for individuals who are 21 years and older.

Mississippi — Ballot Measure 1, Initiative 65 & Initiative 65A

Under Ballot Measure 1, Mississippi voters opted to legalize medical marijuana use. Initiative 65 A and Initiative 65 depended on the outcome of Ballot Measure 1. A majority chose Initiative 65, as it requires the state to allow use for 20 medical conditions and also cap quantities that patients could possess at 2.5 ounces, which is roughly 71 grams.

Initiative 65A would have made medical use more limited.

Arizona

In Arizona, Proposition 207, which supported the legalization of recreational cannabis use for people aged 21 and older,  was approved. The measure also imposed a 16% excise tax on the drug.

Gage Cannabis Co. is a vertically integrated marijuana company that you should watch. This Michigan-based firm has set its eyes on being the biggest brand in the state. Gage’s unique products are tailored to help the company attain its market-leader objective.

Alkaline88 Eyes Professional Sports (NASDAQ: WTER) (CSE: WTER)

  • PGA, MLB changes CBD policies; other leagues evaluating policy changes regarding marijuana, CBD use
  • Global market for CBD oil projected to grow from $967.2 million in 2020 to $5.3 billion by 2025
  • WTER offers an exclusive line of A88CBD(TM) products, ranging from tinctures, capsules and gummies to lotion, creams salves

Since CBD was removed from professional golf’s banned substance list in 2018, PGA and Champions Tour players are turning more frequently to the plant to treat aches and pains, and golfers aren’t the only athletes to choose the compound. Earlier this year, Major League Baseball removed marijuana from its banned-substance list during the offseason (https://cnw.fm/wNnWg). The benefits of CBD use by athletes are still being studied, but the Alkaline Water Company Inc. (NASDAQ: WTER) (CSE: WTER) offers an exclusive line of A88CBD(TM) products (https://cnw.fm/nAIrd) that provide those benefits to sports enthusiasts — and anyone else looking for high-quality CBD-infused options.

“Billy Horschel went six months without a top-eight finish last year before he found a remedy for his ailing golf game from a surprising source: the hemp plant,” reported a recent “New York Times” article (https://cnw.fm/cH4CI). “Horschel, a five-time PGA Tour winner, began using cannabidiol, or CBD, products shortly after he missed the cut at the British Open in July. He had four top-eight finishes in the next four months and was playing some of the most consistent golf of his career before the season was suspended in March because of the coronavirus pandemic. . . . He is the latest in a growing group of tour members, including Bubba Watson, a two-time Masters champion, and Scott McCarron, the reigning Schwab Cup winner on the Champions Tour, who are paid endorsers for CBD products.”

In addition to golf and the MLB, an ESPN article reports that CBD use is allowed in the National Women’s Soccer League. The substance is currently prohibited in the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL. However, “the NBA has also expressed interest in revising its bylaws against CBD use. In 2018, CBD was removed from the World Anti-Doping Agency’s banned substances list” (https://cnw.fm/ZkgFm).

The same article noted that CBD, short for cannabidiol, “has often been touted as a cure-all of sorts. Manufacturers and users claim, mostly anecdotally, that it has given them relief from muscle soreness and swelling and helped curb stress and anxiety. . . . Hemp-based CBD is legal — in various forms from ingestible oils to topicals — in all but three states in the U.S. and is legal at the federal level. States have their own rules restricting or allowing CBD products to be sold, and in many states, CBD can be sold over the counter in drug stores. It remains unregulated by the Federal Drug Administration, however.”

The ESPN article reported that the global market for CBD oil should grow from $967.2 million in 2020 to $5.3 billion by 2025 — all without CBD brands being allowed to directly advertise their products on social media.

WTER chairman Aaron Keay, a former Canadian national soccer team member, is an advocate for CBD use in sports, as well as other aspects of everyday use. “If you look at the kind of the athlete adoption of it, it kind of coincides with how the world is taking it on and looking at it. But you have a few movers and shakers that are willing to take the risk and say: ‘Look, CBD is going to become mainstream way ahead of cannabis and THC,'” Keay told ESPN. The Alkaline Water Company Inc. is a proud supporter of sports; the company’s brand ambassador Chez Reavie, who wears WTER’s flagship Alkaline88 logo on his shirt and sports an Alkaline88 golf bag at all PGA events, won the 2019 Travelers Championship Tournament.

The Alkaline Water Company offers an exclusive line of A88CBD(TM) products, ranging from tinctures, capsules and gummies to lotion, creams salves. The A88CBD products are formulated using high-quality, U.S.-grown hemp and made with 100% natural ingredients, cruelty-free, and gluten-free ingredients.

Founded in 2012, The Alkaline Water Company is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona. Its flagship product, Alkaline88, is a leading premier alkaline water brand available in bulk and single-serve sizes along with eco-friendly aluminum packaging options. In 2019, Alkaline88 launched A88 Infused(TM) to meet consumer demand for flavor-infused products. A88 Infused flavored water is available in seven unique all-natural flavors with new flavors coming soon. Additionally, in 2020 the company launched A88 Infused Beverage Division Inc., which includes the company’s CBD water and flavor-infused water.
