420 with CNW – Five Reasons Medical Marijuana is Overshadowing Recreational Marijuana in the Market

The cannabis industry has created a buzz on Wall Street over the years. This is attributed due to the increased potential of legal marijuana.

Arcview Market Research and BDS Analytics released a report on the state of legal marijuana market, which shows that between the year 2014 and 2018, global sales of legal weed in licensed stores tripled. After investing in the weed industry Wall Street is predicting that on the lower side, annual sales will be $50 billion or $200 billion on the higher side in the next ten years. If their estimate is correct, the marijuana sector will 2 or 2.5 times larger than the soda beverage industry. With this kind of growth, it would be foolish for the investors and Wall Street not to take advantage of the opportunity.

When purchasing cannabis stocks, you have to consider several variables such as supply deals and partnerships as well as the geographical focus.

The report further suggests that recreational marijuana sales all over the world in the year 2024 will be almost double that of medical marijuana. Countries such as Mexico will legalize personal use of marijuana, and this is bound to surpass the medical marijuana sales because patients will see no reason to pay doctors’ consultation fees to access medical cannabis when they can go to the dispensary and buy it.

Although most people are investing in recreational marijuana, it would be wise if people paid more attention to medical marijuana. Discussed below are the five reasons why you should focus more on medical marijuana

  1. Patients Tend to Buy and Use Medical Cannabis Often

Pot stocks are popular among medical marijuana patients. In the last quarter of 2018, surveys carried out in Canada showed that medical cannabis patients buy and use cannabis more often, while people do not purchase or use recreational marijuana as often.

  1. Medical Marijuana Has Higher Margins

Compared to recreational users, medical marijuana consumers tend to consume products with higher margins for the sellers of cannabis products. This is because patients are willing to purchase medical marijuana products such as beverages, edibles, oils, concentrates or vapes with a higher profit margin, while recreational marijuana is in the form of dried weed that has low margins and consumers fear to overdose.

  1. Probability of a Broader Global Market

Over the next ten years, medical marijuana may be explode on the global market; therefore, investors should start investing in the industry. There will be three recreational marijuana markets worldwide if Mexico legalizes marijuana for personal use in October. In the coming years, the future of the pot industry is in medical cannabis which is being accepted in more jurisdictions worldwide.

  1. Appeals to the Younger Generation

Medical marijuana connects with young adults in a quick manner. The ability to buy marijuana derivatives by the younger generation has resulted in dried weed avoidance. The younger generation consumes large amounts of marijuana; therefore, they are expected to be the driving force of the pot industry.

  1. Medical Marijuana Gives Traction to CBD

Through the medical marijuana industry, CBD (cannabidiol), which is a nonpsychoactive cannabinoid that has many medical benefits, gains a paramount degree of exposure. This explosure opens new revenue streams for medical marijuana companies.

Experts think that these five reasons could explain why many marijuana companies, such as Green Hygienics Holdings Inc. (OTCQB: GRYN) and HTC Extraction Systems (TSX.V: HTC) have an eye on the medical marinuana segment.

420 with CNW – Cannabis Expo in West Michigan Set to Educate Consumers and Businesses about the Marijuana Industry

The WMCE (West Michigan Cannabis Expo) will be all things marijuana. It is a two-day event, that will be held at DeltaPlex Arena in Grand Rapids. The event which will be having 60 booths plus is a perfect opportunity for consumers, businesses and other professionals in the cannabis industry to showcase their products and services. It is also an avenue for learning more about the marijuana industry.

The expo also aims to help businesses to develop new leads, strengthen their relationship with their clients and customers, and market their organization.

Some of those who will be in attendance include a hemp product company, cannabinoids retailers, equipment retailers, consumers and growers, as well as legal and accounting professionals.

The WMCE commences on Saturday 5th October. The event opens at 10 a.m and will end at 5 p.m. October 6th is the last day of the expo, and it will be open from 10 a.m to 4 p.m at the DeltaPlex Arena.

DeltaPlex director of events development, Chris Hudson says that business-oriented people expected to attend the event are about 60 percent while the remaining 40 percent comprises of cannabis consumers and people who would like to learn more about the industry.

In November 2018, Michigan legalized marijuana for personal use while medical marijuana was legalized in 2008. The legislation governing recreational marijuana provides that you must be 21 years or older to purchase, use or cultivate marijuana.

According to Hudson, the WMCE was organised after significant growth was observed that in the sector since the legalization of recreational marijuana as people from other states came to Michigan to get their fix. More so, businesses and individuals seeking to join the industry have many questions, and the Expo would help answer and educate them on how to join the marijuana industry. The expo would also help them gain resources such as machines required to make and extract marijuana products.

During the expo, there will be cannabis-cooking demonstrations, seminars on marijuana licensing and banking with cannabis, cannabis medicines displays, and extracts.

The cost of a ticket is $15 for one day, but if you want to attend both days, you will have to pay $25. There is also an upgraded ticket that costs $50, which allows you to participate in a mixer on Saturday at 5.30 p.m. The mixer is for adults who are 21 years and above.

THC products are not allowed into the expo because the state will accept recreational business applications in November.

Analysts are of the view that industry players like Grapefruit Boulevard Investments Inc. (OTCQB: IGNG) and Green Growth Brands Inc. (CSE: GGB) (OTCQB: GGBXF) are happy that such events are being organized to bring marijuana into the mainstream.

420 with CNW – Lower Doses of Marijuana may be more Effective in Improving Libido

Weed budtenders’ advice to new marijuana users is to start slow and go slow on marijuana. This ensures that they do not overdose and they are responsible for their usage. The budtenders’ mantra is the topic of discussion in a new paper that reviews currents studies on sex and how it is affected by marijuana consumption.

Research on the effects of marijuana have been taking place over the years,  and according to the review authors, most of the studies suggest that desire is affected by the level of dosage. The studies indicate that consuming lower doses of marijuana improves your desire. However, when consumers indulged in high doses, their longing decreased or wasn’t affected by the weed.

Researches on the effects of marijuana support the view that cannabis positively affects sexual desire as it results in heightened libido and better orgasms, but, due to legal restrictions, quality studies on cannabis are few. The authors also analyze what the current studies show about the effect of cannabinoid on female sexual longing; and published their findings in this month’s edition of Sexual Medicine Review.

According to the review, most of the studies concluded that marijuana has a positive effect on animal and human sexual pleasure. Use of marijuana during or before sex helps by increasing sexual desire, and brings prolonged and better orgasms. Of all the studies analyzed and reviewed, only one study showed that marijuana inhibits orgasm. This is because the research was focused on the adverse effects of cannabis instead of the general function.

The review authors analyzed 12 studies on human beings and eight studies on animals that were published in the years 1970-2019.

In their review involving animals, they found that when THC was administered to female hamsters with high levels of oestrogen, their desire to mate was heightened and the likelihood of approaching male hamsters for mating was high. This was not observed in Hamsters that were not given THC.

In another study, rats with detectable levels of oestrogen and progesterone were given THC, which enhances lordosis. Lordosis is a position where the rat is arching its back down. Lordosis is used to assess sexual motivation in female rats. When high doses of THC were administered in the rats, their longing was reduced. Other products of marijuana used were endocannabinoid receptor agonists and antagonists. These included anandamide and SR141716. When rats were given anandamide, their desire to mate was increased,  but when they were given SR141716, their desire reduced.

Their analysis of studies involving human beings found that more women experienced increased desire than men when they consumed weed. In 1974, a study involving college students found that 57.8% of the women experience increased desire while 39.1% represented the male students. The same study also suggested that the longing was dependent on the amount of marijuana consumed. When they smoked one joint, their desire increased, but when they consumed more, the desire lessened. The lessened longing is associated with the sleeping effect of marijuana.

A study carried out in India and Nepal had the same findings, where the amount of marijuana consumed affects sex. It also concluded that frequent consumption of weed increased the probability of experiencing satisfactory orgasms.

In conclusion, the review authors wrote that it is important to understand how women’s sexual longing is affected by cannabinoids because it would help in developing better therapeutic options and better understand female sexual functioning. The analysis was more dependent on rodent research and questionnaires since human studies do not indicate the exact dosage or time.

Analysts believe that marijuana industry companies like Chemistree Technology Inc. (CSE: CHM) (OTCQB: CHMJF) and GP Solutions Inc. (OTC: GWPD) aren’t surprised by the findings of this review since the effects of marijuana on libido have been known for long.

420 with CNW – Pennsylvania Governor Wolf Announces His Support for Recreational Marijuana Legalization

In a press conference on Wednesday, Tom Wolf, Pennsylvania Governor accompanied by Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, announced his support for the legalization of adult-use recreational marijuana. In his announcement, he included the final report from Lt. Governor John Fetterman’s statewide tour on recreational marijuana legalization. He also proposed the next steps to be taken after reviewing the input submitted by the citizens from the 67 counties who attended their listening sessions or reverted via their online platform.

In his announcement, Governor Wolf said that Lt.Governor Fetterman fulfilled his promise of touring all the 67 counties in Pennsylvania to get the opinion of the citizens regarding the legalization of adult-use recreational marijuana. Moreover, the majority of the feedback received was in favor of recreational marijuana legalization.

Lt. Governor John Fetterman invited the public, media companies and local officials to the tour stops in each county, where the attendees indicated their interest in the bill by a show of hands.

The report comprises of two parts. The first part looks at the volume of messages sent to the online platform hosted on the governor’s website, the comments made on the platform and comment cards collected at the tour stops, as well as any additional message received by the Lt. Gov Fetterman in other formats.

During the announcement, the Lt. Governor voiced his appreciation for the Pennsylvania citizens who attended his tours and those who submitted their comments either physically or online. He also assured the Pennsylvanians that they will do their best to bring into effect the proposed changes.

Apart from announcing the report, the Pennsylvania Governor and Lt. Governor called for the legislature to get a bill that decriminalizes non-violent and cannabis-related offenses to the governor’s desk. They also announced that they are seeking justice by expunging non-violent and small cannabis-related crimes convicted in the past. Finally, they are asking the General Assembly to debate and pass the bill legalizing recreational marijuana.

Since the majority of Pennsylvania residents are in favor of recreational marijuana legalization, Governor Wolf says that he is looking forward to accomplishing many missions together. This includes the criminal justice reform that he is proposing as it will positively affect the people of Pennsylvania.

In his final remarks, Governor Wolf expressed his gratitude to Lt. Gov. John Fetterman for touring the 67 counties and conducting the research. More gratitude was directed towards the Pennsylvanians who attended the tour stops, wrote messages or called the headquarters to voice their opinion.

Analysts are of the view that industry players like Youngevity International Inc. (NASDAQ: YGYI) and Cannabis Strategic Ventures Inc. (OTCQB: NUGS) will only be happy for the people of Pennsylvania once a legalization bill is passed and signed off.

420 with CNW – A Historic Vote Approves the Marijuana Banking Bill in the House

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives made history by passing a standalone cannabis reform bill. The bill aims to protect financial institutions and ancillary firms that provide services to legitimate marijuana companies in the United States. The legislation would guarantee stability and security to the multibillion-dollar marijuana industry as well as ensuring public safety.

A vote of 321 passed The Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE) Banking Act. All Democrats but one voted for the bill while  91 Republicans voted for the bill and 102 opposed it. For the bill to pass, it required a two-thirds majority of the House to vote for it.

In the United States, recreational marijuana is legal in eleven states, including the Columbian District. Moreso, most of the states in the U.S have legalized the use of medical marijuana. However, at the federal level, marijuana is still considered illegal, making financial institutions and credit unions dread conducting business with marijuana businesses out of fear of being prosecuted or facing the consequences of not abiding by the regulations.  The SAFE Banking Act will protect these institutions from the effects of conducting business with marijuana companies and enterprises.

In March, the bill moved out of the House Finance Committee. Before the vote on Wednesday, the bill had tallied 200 sponsors of which 26 were Republicans. Several national banking groups are supporting the bill by pushing Congress to take action. These groups include American Bankers Association, Independent Community Bankers of America, and the Credit Union National Association. The National Association for State Treasurers, plus state attorneys general and governors from 20 different states all urged Congress to approve the bill.

Although some human rights groups are against the bill claiming that it would be a hindrance to other reforms and federal legalization; the cannabis trade groups, some human right groups, and people advocating for marijuana legalization are in favor of the bill.

Neal Levine, the CEO of the Cannabis Trade Federation (CTF), said that the federation applauds the House for passing the SAFE Banking Act and that they hope that the Senate will follow suit. He also said that the bill benefits the cannabis businesses and the communities that have chosen to embrace cannabis legalization. The Bill allows weed businesses to access banking services; thus, eliminating their reliance on cash. This will, in turn, improve safety within the community, transparency within the industry and adherence to cannabis-related regulations.

It is still not clear if the bill will be approved in the Republican-controlled Senate, but experts are in agreement that industry participants, such as Wildflower Brands Inc. (CSE: SUN) (OTCQB: WLDFF) and Willow Biosciences Inc. (CSE: WLLW), are keeping their fingers crossed hoping that the upper chamber also passes the bill.
